This week we’re talking all about Rocky Romero & Volador Jr.‘s absolutely wonderful CMLL, Arena Mexico match for the World Historic Welterweight Championship from January 20, 2023. We talk about the match in question, my illustration of said match & a whole bunch of rambling nonsense. A really fun chat between mates about all the things we love about CMLL (including a lot that seem to go under-appreciated in general lucha libre discourse), the art of lucha libre in general & even a bit about David’s own background as a masked wrestling fish turned hardened ex-con as ‘Skinny D’ of the famed ‘Wacol’s Most Wanted’ Australian wrestling tag-team.
