Former tag team specialist TK Cooper will challenge Michael Oku for the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming “Revolution Rumble” event at York Hall, after defeating Zozaya in the final of the Number 1 Contenders Tournament in Sheffield. Cooper is no longer the beacon of happiness he was as part of Sunshine Machine, displaying a much different attitude as he heads into singles competition.

His victory in the final came over a weakened Zozaya, who had endured a post match attack from Ricky Knight Jr. earlier on in the afternoon, and with the help of a distraction from Jay Joshua that meant Cooper avoided a pin after Zozaya had successfully hit Avalanche de Madrid al Cielo. Cooper was ruthless from there, hitting a torpedo headbutt and a ripcord headbutt before a shooting star press to obtain victory.

The New Zealander arrived in the final after beating veteran Londoner Sha Samuels in the first of the afternoon’s semi final matchups. This was a back and forth matchup early on, where Samuels’ desperation to earn what he thought might be his last potential show at the main RevPro Title lead him to crash and burn on a moonsault from the corner and look pretty devastated when the East End destroyer only ended in a 2 count. Cooper put him away with a 2nd Torpedo headbutt and then rubbed salt in the wound by refusing Sha’s post match attempt at a handshake before shoving him down to the mat. Sha Samuels will now “address his future” in his native London on June 1st.

Zozaya made the final with more of a whimper than a triumph, as a distraction from Michael Oku was the key factor in the match between him and Ricky Knight Jr. Zozaya caught the Norwich man with a roll up after he had been distracted in an argument with Oku, and then paid for it with a post match beating, including a Fire Thunder Driver that left him sore going into the final. It was pretty clear that Michael Oku vs RKJ is coming in the relatively near future.

Elsewhere on the card, Lizzy Evo put Charli Evans away relatively quickly with a diving knee before a video set up a match between Evo and Serena Deeb in Stevenage, whilst Leon Cage had looked to earn a shot at the Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship that Will Kaven holds at “Revolution Rumble” after defeating Chris Ridgeway 2-1 in a 2 out of 3 falls match, but injury has now cast doubt over whether he will be able to compete in London in just a few weeks time.

Jordan Brooks vs Chris Ridgeway and Leon Slater vs Cameron Khai has been announced for “Live in London 96” on June 1st from 229 The Venue in London. Ridgeway has also been announced as a participant of this year’s “British J Cup”, to be held in Stevenage on June 14th alongside Deadlock Pro Wrestling World Champion Adam Priest. The winner of the tournament will receive a shot at the Cruiserweight Title at this year’s “13th Anniversary” show at Crystal Palace in August.

The second annual “Trios Grand Prix” will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on the 20th and 21st September. Last year’s tournament was won by CPF, beating Barcelona Blacklist in the finals. This time around, Barcelona Blacklist will hold a hometown advantage.

UK and Ireland News

EVE: Riot Grrrls of Wrestling! will deliver the biggest UK show of the next fortnight on June 6th, as they run the first IWGP Women’s Championship defense in the UK, with Stardom’s Syuri facing Alex Windsor in Walthamstow, London. The winner will face the formidable Sareee back in Japan later on June 21st.

On the undercard will be a number 1 contenders match between Big Beefy B*itches and Pretty Psycho for the right to face EVE Tag Champions Harley Hudson and Lucy Sky, as well as an 8 woman tag featuring EVE Champion Nightshade, Martina, Rayne Leverkusen and Skye Smitson taking on Bozilla, Alexxis Falcon, Lucy Sky and Millie McKenzie. This will be Bozilla’s debut match in the promotion. The show will be available on Youtube as part of EVE’s subscription service.

Falling Stars Pro Wrestling is holding “An Afternoon with Johnny Storm” on June 14th in Kings Lynn, where the long term servant of the British independent scene will discuss his career as well as stories from his new book, “The Unofficial Legend? An Unexpected Professional Wrestling Journey”. The book is available on Amazon.

1 Called Manders will be part of New Wave Wrestling’s “The Greatest Weekender” in Cardiff, Wales, on June 20th, where he will face Harrison Bennett. The show will also include matchups between Tilly Mae and Kanji and a 3 way for the New Wave Women’s Championship between Vivika, Lucia Lee and Rayne Leverkusen.

New TNA signee Harley Hudson will wrestle in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, on May 31st, as part of BWR’s “Riot Rumble” show. Ricky Knight Jr. has also been announced.

Drew Parker will face former tag partner Kid Lykos at Attack! Pro Wrestling’s “Rain in July” event on July 13th in Cardiff. It is easy to forget his beginnings as a tag team wrestler under a mask with the world renowned deathmatch wrestler he has become.

Opting to go “Xtreme” are Nina Samuels and Millie McKenzie, who will face each other in an Xtreme rules match at Championship Xtreme Wrestling on August 16th in Braintree, England. CXW Champion, Iceman, will also defend on the show.

Succubus, who was recently part of PWS Korea’s “Wrestle Nation” event in Seoul, will appear for Nebula Wrestling in Nottingham on June 21st for “Ready Level One.” Edgar Adams and Alex Conors have also been announced for the date.

Zozaya is the new Irish Junior Heavyweight Champion after winning the “Grapple Games” match on the event of the same name for Fight Factory Pro Wrestling in Dublin on May 16th, ending the reign of previous Champion CBL in the multiman match. Rich Swann and LJ Cleary defeated the Saviours of Destiny to take the Irish Tag Team Championships on the same show.

Gloucestershire’s Evolution Wrestling will hold their first all women show, with “Burn This House Right Down” on June 27th in Bristol. Already booked for the card is Lucia Lee vs Nina Samuels, Chantal Jordan vs Violent Nyte and a tag match between the Experience and Hyperactive.

Marius Al-Ani caused a major shock by winning the vacant wXw European Championship with victory over Metehan. This was Al-Ani’s first ever shot at the belt, with most in the audience expecting his opponent to put him away easily. They were almost stunned when an incident with an exposed turnbuckle, followed by a superman punch and a exploder suplex, got the 3 count for Al-Ani, especially considering his last match with the promotion was back in November.

The European Title match was the semi main event behind an ECW rules match between Japanese veteran Masato Tanaka and Robert Dreissker. The match began with tables being set up and a bundle of chairs being thrown into the ring, including one presented in tribute to Sabu. It was these weapons that were to play into the match end after a traditional fun-filled brawl all across the venue.

Dreissker gave Tanaka a superplex through a table before spearing him through a table positioned against the corner post, only for his opponent to kick out at 1. A fired up Tanaka began exchanging shots with Dreissker before getting the better of him thanks to his Sabu tribute chair, ending the night in victory.

Earlier on, the makeshift Tag Champions line-up of Anil Marik & Norman Harras were able to survive all-star import tag team Michael Oku and Aigle Blanc thanks to the help of Robin Christopher Fehrwerk, who pulled the referee out of the ring just as it looked as though Aigle Blanc was about to get the pin after a 450 splash. Fehrwerk was ejected in the aftermath but still held the referee’s attention, allowing Marik to hit a low blow and a DDT to ensure a title retention.

Elijah Blum failed to build momentum ahead of his Texas death match for the wXw Title against 1 Called Manders next month, after falling to Ahura in Hamburg. Blum was in trouble late on when a Gotch style piledriver left him only narrowly avoiding a 10 count but was able to get back into the match. He was on the ascendancy when Ahura was able to catch him with a crucifix pin, having avoided being put away with heelish eye rakes and the like…defeat from the jaws of victory for Blum on this occasion.

On the undercard, LSG made his first appearance for wXw in 2025, in a losing effort against Shotgun Champion Hektor Invictus whilst Kid Lykos was the answer to Bobby Gunns open challenge.

wXw vacated their European Championship on May 19th, stating that former Champion Mike D Vecchio required another extended break to rehab a knee injury and had therefore cancelled all booked dates with the promotion until the end of July. The announcement came just days before news broke of the Belgian wrestler being expected to join WWE in September.

Progress Wrestling, at current, still have Vecchio advertised for a tables match at July event “Stay Humble”.

wXw have announced a weekend of Hamburg shows in November for their 25th Anniversary Tour. The promotion will run Markthalle on November 21st and Gruenspan Club in the city on November 22nd. Leon Slater, Dani Luna and Shigohiro Irie are the first talent to be announced for the weekend.

Ricky Marvin has been added to the “Drive of Champions” show on June 14th.

APC’s “Rise To Glory” was a night that celebrated upcoming French talent and no more so than in the main event, where APC Heavyweight Champion Kuro defeated Cedric Alexander, who had his first independent date in Europe since being released from WWE. There were also hometown wins for Celine over Nottingham’s Kaji and for Aigle Blanc over TNT Champion Tate Mayfairs.

Tate Mayfairs became the new Pro Wrestling Cyprus Champion on May 17th in Nicosia, after defeating Iestyn Rees at “Wrestling Mayhem” to capture the belt. There was also fresh gold in Romania, as Noah Walker won the RPW World Championship and Amale defeated Millie McKenzie and Diana Strong to become RPW Queen of the Castle.

All women German promotion Fury crowned their first ever World Champion at “Breaking Barriers” in Stuttgart on May 24th, with Cory Zero earning the honour of being the promotion’s inaugural champion.

“The Rebel” Starbuck will defend his Slam! Championship against Marcus of Man in Lumosali, Finland, on May 31st. “Spring Slam!” will also see Slam! Women’s Champion Aliss Ink defending against Heidi Katrina, as well as a 6 man TLC match. The event will be broadcast in Finland on 24 hour news service Ita Lehti.

Germany’s Unlimited Wrestling will hold “Wrestival” on October 18th and 19th, with a field of wrestlers competing for the Red Diamond Cup. Mark Haskins is their first import announced for the weekend.

Nightshade will return to Barcelona, Spain, on June 13th as part of RCW’s “Gescomania” show that has also already announced Zozaya, 1 Called Manders, LA Taylor, Amale, Skye Smitson, Chantal Jordan and Sara Leon.
