Sunshine Machine, the team of TK Cooper and Chuck Mambo, captured the Progress Tag Team titles in the main event at the Electric Ballroom. The crowd showered the ring in beach balls as soon as the 3 count was made. Their win also means previous champions, the Smokin’ Aces will now have to disband.

The match brings to a close a four year rivalry between the two teams in the promotion. Nick Riley was visibly emotional whilst giving his post match speech after partner Charlie Sterling rejected his apologies over the loss. He announced that he was retiring from Progress after the show and was given a great sendoff by the nearly 500 strong crowd.

The match came at the culmination of the 4 and a hour card, which had a strong start, a bit of a meddling middle and a number of storyline payoffs in its final stages. Another program coming to a close was the issue between Tate Mayfairs and Eddie Dennis in a Last Man Standing Match.

Mayfairs faced off against the man who trained him in a match that carried great emotional weight and picked up the longer it progressed. It was centered over the usage of a set of brass knuckles, a weapon that Mayfairs had been reluctant to use up to this point, with them being involved in different spots in the match, right up to the finish.

Elsewhere on the show, Number 1 Contender for the Progress Men’s World Championship, Michael Oku, opened the show by defeating Myles Kayman in just shy of 10 minutes. The match was the height of the atmosphere on the show and gave enough in showcasing the York youngster while still be a decisive win ahead of Oku’s title challenge in Las Vegas in two weeks time.

Post match, Oku was attacked by Luke Jacobs’ tag team partner Ethan Allan who delivered a rather shouty promo about how Jacobs would school Oku on the 17th. He continued his beatdown thereafter before the challenger was able to turn the tables, standing tall as his music played.

The more comedic elements of the show achieved mixed results. The Dog House Rules Match between Proteus Champion Simon Miller and Gene Munny, where participants could attack each other with anything brought from a pet store (and somehow a kendo stick?) was a quick enough affair while the long segment promoting this year’s edition of “Clash of the Comics” at the Hammersmith Apollo in October quietened down the crowd in the middle of the card. It could have, perhaps, benefitted from the squeaky toys chucked in the ring during the Dog House match.

Progress announced that Paul Walter Hauser will continue his tour of various promotions by being part of the company’s Las Vegas lineup.

Progress has continued to announce competitors for this year’s Super Strong Style 16 tournament on May Bank Holiday weekend at the Electric Ballroom in London.

Zozaya, Trent Seven, Marcus Mathers, Man Like Dereiss, Ethan Allan, Leon Slater joins NOAH’s Masa Kitamiya and Jack Morris in this year’s lineup.

Cara Noir will only be appearing for Progress during Wrestlemania Week in Las Vegas. He will be exclusive to the show at the Pearl Theater on April 17th and will wrestle an opponent yet to be named. The show will be headlined by Michael Oku vs Champion Luke Jacobs for Progress Men’s World Championship.

Also added to the card is a tag team bout between Lykos Gym and Boisterous Behaviour and Nina Samuels will defend the Progress Women’s World Championship in a three way against Rhio and Vert Vixen after months of the odds in her title defenses being in her favor.

Mercedes Mone will make her first appearance for the promotion at the Doncaster Dome on April 20th. The Undisputed British Women’s Champion will defend against Kanji, who defeated Deonna Purazzo at the recent Wolverhampton show.

“High Stakes” takes place on Easter Sunday in the UK, as RevPro continue in their attempt to convert the Doncaster market to one of their own, having previously been dominated by the now ceased 1PW during various periods over the last two decades. Donavan Dijak is another former WWE name on the bill.

Also added to the card is a Women’s Revolution Gauntlet and Undisputed Champion Michael Oku facing Leon Slater. Oku is wrestling in Las Vegas for Progress on the 17th before flying back for the show.

Rev Pro have also announced their line up for the “Live in London” show on April 6th at the 229. It will feature Jordon Breaks vs Zozaya, Ricky Knight Jr. vs Cameron Khai, CPF facing off with Leon Slater and the RevPro Tag Team Champions the Young Guns and Kanji taking on Dani Luna ahead of her match with Mercedes Mone in 3 weeks time.

Chris Ridgeway vs Seiki Yoshioka will take place at the promotion’s April 13th show at the 1865 in Southampton.

Other UK and Ireland News

OTT have announced Scrappermania 9 for Saturday May 3rd, 2025 at their regular venue of the National Stadium in Dublin. This has traditionally been their tentpole show for the year.

Pete Dunne returned to the independents for the first time since 2019 at the 03/24 Homecoming show in Dublin. He paid tribute to Ryan Smile and Niamh Dunphy in a promo after his match. The event is available on the OTT On demand service.

Elias missed the show due to the closure of Heathrow Airport for the entirety of Friday 03/21 due to a substation fire. He was due to wrestle Man Like Dereiss on the show.

Inside the Ropes are bringing Marc Mero over for a two night set of speaking shows in early April. The ‘Evening With’ shows will be held in Manchester on the 8th and Newcastle on the 9th.

For The Love of Wrestling have wasted no time in announcing guests for next year’s convention on the 21st and 22nd February 2026 at the Bowlers Exhibition Center in Manchester. Eric Bischoff carries on this year’s WCW theme. He will be joined by Rob Vam.

Thunder Rosa wrestled Alex Windsor on Tuesday 03/28 for Riot Cabaret in Clapham, London before flying to St. Paul, Minnesota to wrestle on Dynamite on Wednesday night. The match is available in full on Youtube.

The WWE tryouts, which have been planned since before the turn of the year,finally took place at the WWE UK Performance Centre this past weekend. The two day event saw the US company take an in depth look at wrestlers such as Progress World Champion Luke Jacobs, Rhio, Man Like Dereiss (who also recently attended a tryout with TNA Wrestling), Adam Maxted, Aigle Blanc, Stephanie Maze, Goldenboy Santos, Nathan Angel, Rayne Leverkusen, Danny Jones and Zozaya. Former GHC Tag Team Champion Jack Morris also took part in the event.

NXT talent were in attendance to help with proceedings and Triple H was present for large parts in between a number of media engagements. The tryouts even had a headline media spot of their own, appearing as a featured segment on the 6pm ITV News in the UK on 03/31.

Wrestle Carnival will return from sabbatical on April 17th at the HMV Empire in Coventry for “The Invitational”. The show will host an 8 man tournament, with the winner leaving with the Foley trophy at the end of the night. Adam Maxted, Simon Miller, Adam, Bolt, Blake, Man Like Dereiss, Charles Crawley, Bullit and Hazz Hype make up the field.

Dios Del Inframundo, the incarnation of Drago during the recording of the Lucha Underground series, is being brought back to the UK for two dates in May by Brit King Pro (the former 4FW). The luchador will appear in Oxford on Saturday May 3rd and in Cardiff on Sunday May 4th.

ICW are fully illustrating their range this weekend with an All Star/ Megaslam like event in Ayr Town Hall on 04/05 under the “Blockbuster Pro Wrestling” still has Jack Jester as its headline name but will be an entirely family affair with all children entering free.

ICW will also produce a show from the Asylum in Glasgow on 04/06 in their more traditional format. “The World Is Yours” will feature Kez Evans vs Ryan Richards, Rhio vs Denise, Arcade Violence vs the Young Team for the ICW Tag Team Championships, Levis Garvin vs Judas Grey and Aaron Echo vs Lee Macrae.

Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Jack Morris will wrestle on the “We Run This Town” show in Glasgow on May 18th.

This upcoming Saturday’s show in Frankfurt on 04/05 has Axel Tiecher vs the recently returned Metehan and a WXW Shotgun Championship match between Joseph Fenech Jr. and Hektor Invictus on the lineup.

Belgian promotion Banger Zone Wrestling will be running Wrestlemania week at the Swan Dive in Las Vegas at 10pm on 04/17.

French prromotion APC Catch will host Nic Nemeth for his first independent date in the country in Nanterre on 06/28 for “Final Storm.”

WWE wrestler Bayley attended training sessions at the wrestling schools for Pro Wrestling Holland in Amsterdam and Bergen Pro Wrestling in Bergen, Norway during the recent WWE tour.

South Africa’s World Association of Wrestling have announced that their WAW/WWP Champion Mr. Wrestling has had to relinquish his title with immediate effect after being diagnosed with cancer. The wrestler is undergoing treatment for the illness with the promotion and its fans raising funds to assist with his recovery. Mr. Wrestling has worked prominently in India as well as South Africa.

The company has also announced that they will hold “WrestleMonster 7” on April 19th as part of the Splash festival at Nelson Mandela Bay. Announced so far is the debut of Cyrus Stone and a Legends Awards ceremony.
