NXT Takeover Dallas Predictions
Tonight is the night! NXT Takeover Dallas! I expect this show to produce some of the best in-ring matches of the whole weekend. I see people comparing Wrestlemania and NXT Takeover Dallas. They are completely two different animals. NXT Takeovers are designed for the “hardcore” wrestling fan while on the other hand Wrestlemania is designed to reach more “casual” fans. They’re two shows under the same banner that serve two different purposes. If you’re reading this blog, you’re probably a “hardcore” fan. As wrestling fans, let’s stop comparing cards for one weekend and let’s just enjoy what both these shows will produce. Here are my predictions for NXT Takeover Dallas.
Apollo Crews vs. “The Drifter” Elias Sampson

source: wwe.com
I’m not into the Drifter at all. Maybe if he starts hitting people over the head with that guitar it’ll get me a little more interested in this guy. Personally, I would love to see Apollo win, but it seems like Elias is being pushed to be an eventual top heel. So I’m going with the Drifter stealing the a win.
Winner: Elias Sampson
Austin Aries vs. Baron Corbin

source: wwe.com
I’m super excited that “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived”, Austin Aries, is in NXT! I’ve been a big fan or Aries from his time in ROH and TNA. I’ve also been loving Baron Corbin’s work. I know a lot of fans hate on Corbin because he’s not an indy guy. He has used that hate and criticism in his character which can pretty much be described as an “indy killer”. Corbin will be looking to stomp out another “indy guy” tonight. I think this match is going to exceed expectations. I expect A Double to win his “debut” match (He has been wrestling on NXT house shows) and start his ascent to the NXT title. I wouldn’t be surprised if Corbin attacks Aries after the match to get some heat.
Winner: Austin Aries
NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Revival (c) vs. American Alpha

source: wwe.com
This match probably has the one of the best stories and builds. For the past few months, these two teams have been strategically built up. The Revival broke out on the scene defeating the Vaudevillians for the NXT Tag Titles. Since then they defeated every tag team put in their way. American Alpha were originally heels but there amazing in ring performances won the NXT crowd over including their match against Baron Corbin and Rhyno in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Slowly but surely American Alpha started picking up wins and with every win the crowd got more and more behind them. There is going to be a huge pop when American Alpha hits the Grand Amplitude and become the new NXT tag champs.
Winners: American Alpha
Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

source: wwe.com
This match possibly could be the best match of the Wrestlemania weekend. Nakamura is a huge acquisition for WWE. I can only imagine the pop this man is going to get. I first watched Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 9 and have become a big fan of his work. Nakamura oozes charisma. I don’t expect him to be in NXT for too long. With this being Sami Zayn’s last Takeover and Nakamura’s debut I think Zayn will be taking the L. Regardless of who wins this will be a great wrestling match.
Winner: Nakamura
NXT Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Asuka

source: wwe.com
This going to be an interesting match up. Two of the most loved women in the NXT women’s division. I expect the crowd to be completely split down the middle. This is going to Bayley’s toughest test to date. I actually scared of what Asuka is going to do everyone’s favorite hugger. I believe the time is right to promote Bayley to the main roster. Asuka is a strong enough character to be the new face of the NXT women’s division.
Winner: Asuka
NXT Championship Match: Finn Bálor (c) vs. Samoa Joe

source: wwe.com
I’ve heard a lot of people saying they’re not too excited for this match. I understand we’ve seen this match once before but these two are so talented they will tell a completely different story this time around. Once again I think the time is right to promote one of these men to the main roster after this match. With Finn being the face of NXT for the last year it would be great to freshen things up and elevate a new face. Samoa Joe as a monster heel champion would be the perfect element to create a new babyface star. I’m calling Joe to be the first man to finally slay the demon and send Finn packing to the main roster.
Winner: Samoa Joe
That’s right I predicted a night of all title changes! Am I crazy? Maybe. We’ll find out tonight!
Jeremy’s 2016 Prediction Record: Royal Rumble: 3-3, Fastlane: 6-1, Roadblock: 4-0
