WarGames is back after almost 20 years. I don’t understand why it took so long to utilize the WarGames match in WWE. Currently, the NXT brand is in a rebuilding period after losing top stars such as Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode. This card will be used to establish the new faces of NXT. Here are my predictions for NXT TakeOver WarGames,
Kassius Ohno vs. Lars Sullivan
Winner: Lars Sullivan
Why: I’m a big fan of Kassius Ohno, but it has been clear his role in NXT is to put over upcoming talent. NXT has done a great job pushing Lars Sullivan as the next big monster. There’s a lot of upside with Lars. He has a unique intimidating look with a killer power move set. Ohno will be Lars’ first real test. If Lars has a good performance I can easily see him challenging for NXT title soon or even being called up to the main roster.
Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream
Winner: Aleister Black
Why: This match was very hard for me to a pick winner. On one hand, you have the Velveteen Dream in his first TakeOVer match and he needs a big win to help get established. Then, on the other hand, you have Aleister Black who is currently undefeated in NXT. I think the right move is for Black to remain undefeated in a very close match. I’d like to see Black go undefeated until he challenges for the NXT Title.
NXT Women’s Championship
Kari Sane vs. Peyton Royce vs. Ember Moon vs. Nikki Cross
Winner: Peyton Royce
Why: Kairi Sane seems to be the favorite for winning this match. After winning the inaugural Mae Young Classic, it made would make sense for Kairi to win the NXT Women’s Title. However, I think Kairi winning is too predictable. There are a lot of babyface women on the NXT roster so I think it would make more sense to have Peyton Royce win. In a Fatal 4 Way, it would be easy for her to steal the pin, especially if Billie Kay is lurking around ringside.
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
Winner: Drew McIntyre
Why: Putting Zelina Vega with Almas has been a breath of fresh for his career. Before being paired with Vega there were rumors that Almas was on the chopping block and could be released. With Vega, he has been elevated into a legit main eventer. Even though Almas is on the rise, I predict Drew holding onto the championship. The NXT title rarely changes hands quickly. Plus Drew’s excursion on the indys has turned him into a Superstar. I expect Drew to walk into NXT TakeOver New Orleans with the NXT Championship.
SAnitY vs. The Undisputed Era vs. The Authors of Pain & Roderick Strong
Winners: The Undisputed Era
Why: I’m very excited to see Triple H’s vision for the WarGames match. I know a lot of people are worried about how the match will play out. I think in the end it will turn out fine. A few weeks ago we saw Roderick Strong decline an offer to join the Undisputed Era. However, I think we will be swerved and Roderick will turn heel and help the Undisputed Era win. I’ve been a fan of Roddy for a long time and in my opinion, Roddy is best as a heel.
