WWE Roadblock Predictions

by Mar 10, 20160 comments

WWE Roadblock has the potential to insert some twists and turns to the Wrestlemania 32 gameplan. After this show, we’ll have a better picture of what WWE has decided for Wrestlemania. I don’t think it has been announced how long this show is going to be. I don’t think it’ll be more than 2 hours. That’s the good thing about Network exclusive events, WWE has the ultimate control of how long it goes. It’s possible that there will be some more matches added to the card. Here are my predictions for what we know so far.

NXT Tag Team Championship
The Revival vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy

First of all, let me say that I don’t mind Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder’s new team name. A lot of people ask are asking what exactly are they reviving? Well if you listen closely to their promos you’ll hear them talk about reviving tag team wrestling. Dawson and Wilder have been very impressive since winning the NXT Tag Titles and have been turning a lot of heads. Their rivalry with Enzo and Cass has been going on since the end of last year. Dawson and Wilder have forced Enzo and Cass to show a more vicious side of their characters. Despite upping their intensity, Enzo and Cass have failed to get the tag titles from the Revival. Some fans are puzzled to why Enzo and Cass, arguably the most over team in NXT, have not won the tag titles in their NXT tenure. My thinking is the titles in wrestling are used to elevate people. Enzo and Cass are so over they don’t need the titles to be a big-time attraction. With rumors of Enzo and Cass moving to the main roster after Wrestlemania 32, the chances of them winning the titles this Saturday are pretty slim. Another reason Enzo and Cass probably aren’t winning is because during the last set of NXT Tapings American Alpha became the one contenders and it’s been reported by various sources that the Revival will defend against American Alpha at NXT Takeover Dallas. However, the good thing about NXT being taped is they can easily edit in and out segments. If Enzo and Cass were to win, the Dallas match could be turned into a triple threat match. I’m not sure how much the Revival was involved in the last set of tapings. That could be the key factor of whether or not they can make changes to what’s been taped. As much as I want to see Enzo and Cass capture the titles, I think the Revival will retain yet again.

Winners: The Revival

WWE Tag Team Championship
League of Nations vs. New Day

This feud began last month at Fastlane during the Cutting Edge Peep Show segment (which was not so great). Since that interaction between these two teams, we’ve seen both groups smack talk each other on Social Media and during their segments. It seemed as if they were building to a New Day vs. Leauge of Nations match for the titles at Wrestlemania. I was surprised when this match was announced for Roadblock. This Roadblock match should be the beginning transition of New Day from heels to babyfaces. A title change here could set up a title rematch at Mania if the plans are still for these two teams to face each other. I’ve seen a few sites report that there could possibly be a 6 Man Tag at Mania for the titles using the Freebird Rule, which would make sense since the Freebirds are being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. After that amazing win on Raw over Y2AJ, I would hate to see New Day drop the titles here. I’m going to go with New Day winning.

Winners: New Day

Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt

This match was rumored for months to be taking place at Wrestlemania. All the set up was there, but then it seemed like plans were changed and it was decided that Brock would face Dean instead. The Bray Wyatt character has been floundering due to bad booking decisions. Bray and the rest of the Wyatt Family have been stuck in this repetitive cycle of randomly attacking someone, cutting nonsense promos on that person, and then losing to that person on pay per view. At this point, I don’t know if Bray could ever be rectified. I have a real hard time picturing Bray escaping with a win here. Especially considering that Brock has a match for Mania and as of this writing Bray doesn’t. Even with Wyatt Family shenanigans, I see Bray going to Suplex City and being swept away with an F-5.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

WWE Championship
Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose

It’s been amazing to see how opposite the crowd reactions are for Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Unlike Roman, Dean gets cheered by everyone in the audience. It’s clear that people want Ambrose as the top babyface and not Reigns. The dynamic between Ambrose and Triple H is far more intriguing than between Reigns and Triple H. I think WWE officials realize how much the fans (especially the hardcore fans) want to see Ambrose versus Triple H instead of Reigns versus Triple H and that’s why they’re giving us this match at Roadblock. This match is WWE’s way of saying we listen to our fans and we’re giving them what they want, Dean Ambrose in the main event of a show fighting for WWE Championship. They’re going to use this match to get Ambrose versus Triple H out our system so they can present us with what they want fans to accept, Triple H versus Roman Reigns. Ambrose is one of my favorite wrestlers and I would love to see him pull out an upset, win the title, and completely change what’s happening at Wrestlemania. Unfortunately, I don’t think WWE is going to go that route. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a Dusty Finish or disqualification. If they are sticking with the plan this match has to make both guys look strong going into their matches at Mania. So it’ll be interesting to see how things play out.

Winner: Triple H
