Summerslam 2015 will go down in history as the biggest Summerslam ever. This is the first time that Summerslam will be four hours along. Summerslam has always been my favorite pay per view. Mainly because it’s either on or around my birthday. Here are my predictions for the show.
Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler

source: wwe.com
This is probably the most awkward feud on the show. I’m just not digging Rusev and Summer as a couple or Lana and Ziggler. I have fallen in love with Rusev’s character. Since his break up with Lana they did a great job adding layers to his character. He’s not just the angry foreigner guy that hates America. We now know he’s an emotional male chauvinist that is obsessed with his ex-girlfriend. His broken English promos are hysterical. I find it weird that this match wasn’t booked as a mixed tag match. It seemed like seeing Lana’s in ring debut was going to be a big part of this feud. With Ziggler being out of action for weeks, I’m going to go with him picking up a win on Rusev. I’m sure this won’t be the end of this feud.
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

source: wwe.com
Once again we will be forced to watch another Orton/Sheamus match. Their Battleground match wasn’t horrible, but I’m ready to see these guys go their separate ways.I feel like Orton should be doing bigger and better things right now. He’s arguably the number two babyface on the roster right now. Anytime he hits an RKO people lose their mind! Since Orton won at Battleground I think Sheamus will pick up the win here and attempt to cash in later in the night.
Intercontinental Championship
Big Show vs. Ryback vs. The Miz

source: wwe.com
After suffering from a nasty staph infection in his knee, Ryback is back in time to defend his Intercontinental title at Summerslam. WWE is giving him the babyface push he deserves. I would really like to see Ryback get back on track and pick up a win here. I have an uneasy feeling in my stomach that The Miz is going to play opossum during this match and steal the win. I’m going to go against my gut feeling and say that Ryback will retain. Mainly because once again WWE used Daniel Bryan to endorse Ryback. It seems like a waste time to bring out Bryan to support Ryback and then have him lose.
Stephen Amell & Neville vs. Stardust & Cosmic King Barrett
I’ve never watched Arrow or heard of Stephen Amell until Stardust started targeting him. I was impressed by his athleticism when he leaped into the ring to brawl with Stardust. Also, his backstage promo with Triple H was good. I know there is usually a negative stigma when a celebrity is booked in a match, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. It’s great to see that Amell has been dedicated his time to this match. He’s been training in the ring and getting his gear together. I’m not expecting to deliver a five-star performance. I’m sure Neville will be taking most of the bumps for the team. Also Stardust and Barrett are great workers and will make Amell look like a million bucks. Neville and Amell should pick up the win here.
Tag Team Championship
Los Matadores vs. New Day vs. Prime Time Players vs. Lucha Dragons

source: wwe.com
Fatal 4 Way tag matches has become WWE’s calling card for big shows like Wrestlemania and Summerslam. I really wish they would invest more time developing all the teams that are in this match. It would be great to see some vignettes or interviews with the participants explaining why they’re a team, how important the tag titles are, and why they want to win them. I don’t understand why the Prime Time Player was mostly booked on commentary for the build up of this match. Well, I guess it’s better than having them lose a bunch of non-title matches. Los Matadores and Lucha Dragons have a chance at winning this. I think New Day will rock and become the new tag team champions.
Team PCB vs. Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D.

source: wwe.com
I think the insertion of Charlotte, Becky, and Sasha on the main roster has been great so far. We’ve seen some decent tag and singles matches. WWE is finally giving Divas the chance the fans have been beckoning for. Although these factions are great, at some point the focus has to come back to the Diva’s title. This women’s faction warfare has been a great distraction from the fact the Nikki is so close to breaking AJ’s record as longest reigning Diva’s champion. I would not be surprised if one of these teams had a Judas waiting to steal the spotlight for themselves. With Sasha more than likely losing the night before at NXT Takeover I think we will see Team B.A.D. victorious.
Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

source: wwe.com
It has been a treat to see Cesaro finally getting pushed again. WWE has dropped the ball multiple times with the Swiss Superman. It seems like the comments Vince made about Cesaro on the Austin podcast was the fire that lit the match of Cesaro. There is no questioning that his match will be awesome. Both of these men are very familiar with each other with time in ROH and other independents. I’ve been seeing a lot of Owens’ fans complaining that he’s being buried because he’s not wrestling Cena at Summerslam. If Owens was being buried, he wouldn’t be main eventing the biggest NXT show in history. He also wouldn’t have a match at Summerslam. I hope WWE will be ready for the IWC backlash if they plan on Owens losing back to back. I think that Cesaro needs this win more than Owens does. They need to capitalize on this organic Cesaro movement. Owens is talented enough to be able to make himself look good in defeat. Owens still has plenty of time to become a main event star.
Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper vs. Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns

source: wwe.com
This match will have to live up to standards of the past Wyatt/Shield matches. If given appropriate time this should be pretty good. A lot of people think that there will be a heel turn from Ambrose or Reigns. I really don’t see that happening just yet. Having Ambrose with Reigns has helped fans to embrace Reigns again. I’m not sure what the update is on Erick Rowan’s injury but if Rowan is ready to go I can see him helping Bray and Luke pick up the win. If Rowan is not ready I still see the Wyatts winning due to some kind of shenanigans. Hopefully, Ambrose stays away from plugged in monitors.
Title For Title
U.S. Champion John Cena vs. WWE Champion Seth Rollins

source: wwe.com
John Cena suffering a broken nose has taken this rivalry from okay to great. With both titles on the line its hard to pick a winner here. I want more Cena U.S. open challenge matches, but I’m not sure I want to see Cena win the WWE title for the 16th time. Cena’s verbal joust with Triple H on Monday makes me think that Triple H will make the save and help Rollins retain his title and become the new U.S. champion. Then they’ll probably have Rollins vacate the U.S. title and Cena will continue his quest to win his 16th World Championship.
Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker

source: wwe.com
I have a lot of mixed emotions for this match. On one hand, I’ve been loving Brock Lesnar and Suplex City. It is fun to watch Brock throw people around. Lesnar has become a great attraction and it’s special when he’s on TV. On the other hand, I’ve been watching the Undertaker since I was 5 years old. It was sad seeing the streak end and to watch Brock almost end his career. Taker looks to be in much better shape now than he did at Wrestlemania 30. It’s been very weird to see WWE try to position Undertaker as the heel. I’m going to lean towards JR’s theory. I believe that Lesnar will take Taker to Suplex City again and then they’ll have one final match at Wrestlemania 32 where Taker will finally beat, Lesnar.
